Considered as universal panacea since the time of the pharaohs, nigella oil is extracted from the tiny black seeds of the white-flowered plant of the ranunculus family, Nigella sativa, which grows in shady oases. Also called black cumin, these fragrant seeds are used notably for flavouring bread. It is very useful nutritional complement, strengthening the body's immune system and combating digestive disorders, but it is also traditionally applied to the skin to relieve acne, reduce mycosis and soothe spasms, or to revitalise lifeless hair. Nigella oil is highly fragrant and can be mixed with hazelnut or jojoba oil.
